The Federal Ministry for Digital and State Modernisation (BMDS) has taken over patronage of the "Software Made in Germany" quality label issued by the German Federal Association for SME IT (BITMi).
This initiative is designed to strengthen Germany's digital sovereignty and to make the innovative power of the domestic digital economy more visible.
Voices on the patronage
At the official handover, Federal Digital Minister Dr. Karsten Wildberger emphasised:
"The 'Software Made in Germany' initiative supports the BMDS goal of advancing Germany's digital sovereignty. The label makes the origin of software products transparent at first glance and strengthens the domestic digital industry. Germany's digital future will be shaped to a large extent by SME IT companies."
Dr. Oliver Grün, President of BITMi, puts it equally clearly:
"The current political situation clearly shows how important it is to deliberately support German software vendors. They are the key to our digital sovereignty."
More than 700 certified software products
The quality label stands for quality, service orientation and reliability "Made in Germany". With more than 700 certified software products, the initiative demonstrates that German software solutions can play a decisive role in a sustainable digital transformation.
