Speaker: Alexander Krull, CSO
Title: "Implementing the Last Mile in IT Automation – From Ticket to Solution using Valuemation and FLOWSTER as Examples"
Session Track: Valuemation - Session 2
Date: Wednesday, April 29, 2020
Time: 4:10 - 4:40 PM
IT automation is often viewed as a means of making work easier, less as an integration tool. IT specialists can thus devote themselves to more important tasks and processes. Automation also compensates for the shortage of IT specialists, as existing staff is relieved and their know-how remains in the company. The presentation illuminates how the possibilities of ITSM can be expanded through automation. Using the service catalog element "Password Reset" in USU Valuemation as an example, the advantages of automatic ticket processing compared to conventional manual execution become clear. In addition, the topic of "DevOps-ITSM integration" is examined. DevOps unites the otherwise separate IT areas of software development and IT operations. The goal is to improve the cooperation between these two areas. The presentation shows how DevOps can be integrated into a classic ITIL process.
