Hospitals can benefit from a multi-billion federal government investment program for the expansion of their IT infrastructure. This is intended to promote modern emergency capacities, digitalization, and IT security for clinics. The passed Hospital Future Act (KHZG) provides a total of 4.3 billion euros for this purpose.
With the KHZG, more investment funds were available for hospitals than ever before. For the first time in decades, the federal government is investing directly in hospitals from budget funds. Digital investments are possible in almost all areas. The goals include improving digital infrastructure, a higher degree of networking within the healthcare system, standardization instead of isolated solutions, and better communication and security.
With the Hospital Future Act, the federal government sent a clear signal: Germany's hospitals should remain strong! The pandemic in particular has shown how important well-functioning hospitals are.
