THE DATACENTER IS CHANGING
Data centers have changed due to hybrid approaches. The availability of resources is not anymore restricted to only local options, but are also present in the cloud or in a combination of physical and virtual data center (hybrid cloud). But this circumstance also increases the possible problems.
A modern data center is facing diverse challenges: digitization, virtualization and global connectivity are demanding much more dynamic and innovation from the companies’ perspectives. For these, increasing flexibility, speed and efficiency are inevitable. More applications, more physical along with virtual servers, faster access to IT resources and applications, as well as increasingly shorter delivery times for products together with services are forcing businesses to act – despite ever-diminishing budgets for personnel and time resources. The data center is obliged meet all these requirements.
At the same time, the data center is becoming increasingly heterogeneous and complex. Often the following condition can be found within: over-grown, over-dimensioned infrastructures made up of a variety of components and services. Separated into silo structures and incompatible with each other, these systems aren’t able interact. This hampers the communication between the silos and consequently inhibits their handling, monitoring along with control. All of this is happening at the expense of resources, agility and speed and thus the business success of companies.
